about

I’m Sofie Mikhaylova. I’m a multi-faceted creative who follows my inspirations and adventure wherever they lead her. As a multi-hyphenate, my work spans many different mediums and forms of expression. I’ve worked extensively in the fields of journalism, psychedelics, the music industry, social media management, SEO, and more.

In 2021, combining my passions for electronic music production and writing, I wrote and self-published my first ebook, Experimenting, gearing it towards boundary-pushing musicians looking to expand their sound practice.

I published my debut poetry book, “I love you so much, I miss you so much,” in April 2022 via Bottlecap Press. I’ve written about music and pop culture for numerous publications, including Vice, Thump, Noisey, Paste Magazine, A.Side, Double Dot Magazine, Vinyl Me, Please, Mixmag, Exclaim!, The Washington Post, and more.

I founded the independent record label Biblioteka Records in 2017, and released dozens of projects with over 10 artists around the world through it, including three vinyl releases. The record label has amassed over 2 million streams and has also been a launchpad for numerous classes and workshops for women and LGBTQI+ folks interested in learning more about music & production, both independently and in collaboration with other organizations, such as Solidarity in Sound and Toronto Metropolitan University.

Today, I continue to walk the line between disciplines, working as a successful and in-demand freelance writer in travel, psychedelics, and pop culture, covering the underground drug scene around the world and in Toronto (I was the first reporter on the scene when the mushroom dispensaries started opening up) and handling several psychedelics, wellness, and cannabis industry clients for boutique and bespoke social media strategy agreements. I regularly lead and organize workshops on psychedelics and writing, offer custom SEO copywriting services, and often contribute to publications such as leafie, Tripsitter, and more.
