I love you so much, I miss you so much
I love you so much, I miss you so much is Sofie Mikhaylova’s debut poetry chapbook, published in April 2022 by Bottlecap Press.
This book is about being apart, being in pain, and connecting only in dreams. It’s about missing hugs and gentle touches, about plotting surprises and staying up late for a chance at a conversation. It’s about making, realizing, and understanding mistakes. It’s about rash decisions and their undoing. It’s about fixing and repairing, about travel and love, and about the peace felt in the non-time of an airplane. How easy it is to book flights and climb on them, and how terrifying it can be sometimes to get off.
Hear What I Hear: A Digital Audio Museum
On December 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. EST, dozens of people around the world recorded 30 seconds to one minute of their day, and anonymously uploaded the recording to a shared drive. These sounds have been downloaded and organized in digital exploration world format with the help of Bramble, a virtual space creator and labelled with only their city and country of origin. Use this space to pull back the curtain and take a small peek into somebody else’s life, a moment long passed but still preserved, never to be repeated again.
Hear What I Hear is socially engaged large-scale art.
What Club? A conversational zine by Ben McCarthy, Sofie Mikhaylova (Sonja), and Saira Sabri
In October 2020, Ben McCarthy and Sonja were part of a livestreamed event co-presented by Ryerson University and Jack Layton Chair, Musicians During COVID-19: Collaboration, Connection & Cacophany. In preparation, Ben and Sonja started a long email thread, which ended up being filled with more ideas than their alloted 15 minutes of conversation allowed. After the event, they decided the thread was too interesting to waste, and decided to edit it down and immortalize it.
The original idea was to create a physical, risoprinted zine, a tangible email thread, something one could touch, but this proved to be challenging, and the idea was moved back into the digital space.
Brought to life with stunning drawings from Saira Sabri, the zine is now ready to be shown to you as an embedded digital booklet and as a free download for you to keep on your harddrive for as long as you want, to take with you when you move, in a place where it won’t collect dust.
Experimenting: An Ebook For Musicians and Creatives
Experimenting is Sofie’s self-published debut ebook, released January 2021.
It is a guidebook and an assistant. Experimenting is about freeing your mind and elevating your work. Experimenting is for artists who feel stuck, lost, and curious about their relationship with the sounds around them. Experimenting is about having fun.
